Alrighty, so I think we may have done it… this is the largest update done to this site.
Not even joking, this has been a fun update to make, but this has been lengthy. I started this update on Sunday and it is now Thursday where I’m writing the blog update for this. I’m probably going to publish this Friday because it’s late as I’m writing this. That is how long this update has taken. But it’s been worth it, as it’s not only brought some improvements to the website but also made me learn a bit in HTML and CSS. So that has been nice.
Note: It is now Sunday as I’m finishing this. Looks like this has been a weeklong project after all!
But rant aside, this is a large update, so let’s get into it.
That’s right, there’s a new look to the website. Gone is the purple look and in is this new, shinier yellow look. I think this looks way nicer than the previous look and, in a way, more readable. Even then, the aesthetic seems more pleasant too. Sure, it still looks like old-school for most folks, but remember this is a hand-coded HTML/CSS site, so you’ll obviously get that vibe. That also includes the gradients. Yep, these are actually CSS code. I had to use this site to get the gradients but it was worth it. It looks awesome and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Oh, and these notice elements exist now. Cool!
That’s right, there’s a new homepage now. I’ve decided to make it look different to be more professional to those just coming in. Plus, I’ve decided to get rid of the notice that the site is WIP for the most part. There’s still plenty of stuff that needs to be done, but I think for the most part it’s at this point where not much needs to be done to make it “complete”. I’ll still add things here and there, sure, but I think we’re at a stable state now to not need to call it WIP. However, the homepage now is more simplified and even has direct links to a few spots of the site! Go check it out!
These tabs are something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time but never really figured out how to do them properly. Especially releases. However, I didn’t know how to go about doing this in a decent manner. Luckily, me and my friend Seren Santiago from Aphelion Music (you should go check out his channel if you haven’t) were discussing and he brought up many ideas and one of them included Spotify embeds. So that’s essentially what the releases tab is; Spotify embeds but also the occasional SoundCloud embed for tracks that are only exclusive to the platform. While I'm at it, a huge thank you to Seren for the ideas!
However, you’ll also find Spotify embeds in the Playlists tab, which is an easy to access version of the Playlists section of my Links page! In addition to that, there’s also a Mixes tab dedicated to YouTube and SoundCloud embeds for mixes I’ve done for various purposes! Feel free to check them out and let me know what you think!
Darn… this update took WAAAAY too long to code, but I’m proud of the results, and I hope you’re excited as I am! I think this website is already looking better than it was a little while ago by a night and day difference. I’ll still code some new things up here and there, of course, plus I’m eventually going to post a blog post that’s not a website update. But for now, I hope you enjoy the update and feel free to let me know if there’s any feedback I should take note of. Thank you and I hope everyone reading this has a great rest of their day!
